The Harley Davidson motorcycle and brand is an icon. Harley tattoos are a way of paying tribute to the bike, and connecting with the Harley community. History of the Harley Brand

The motorcycle has evolved a lot over the years. The first production model, in 1905 had a single cylinder 440cc engine. In 1911, a new engine was introduced, with a V-Twin design, with 810ccs. The popularity of the HD motorcycle soared and by 1920 it was the biggest manufacturer in the world.
The company went through some rough patches after the second world war, and changed hands in 1952 and again in 1981.
The release of the “Fat Boy” model in 1990, reinvigorated sales. The company went back to quality parts and away from mass production to differentiate the brand from overseas and other local mass produced bikes. Demand soared again and due to the quality assembly process, it was not uncommon for the waiting list for the most popular models to exceed 12 months.
A museum, dedicated to the HD motorcycle will be opened in Menomonee River Valley in 2008 to honor and celebrate the history of the bike and the brand.

What to Wear During a Motorcycle Ride

What makes motorcycle rides interesting are the speed, the thrill, and the outfit. Back in the days, we have an image of what a motorcycle rider looks like. They usually have long hair tied in a ponytail, leather jacket over black shirt, classic boots, and metallic accessories. However, that is no longer the trend today. So many men and even women are into motorcycles who do not dress that way.
In riding motorcycles, wearing the ride clothes is important. What they are wearing should suit their ride.
You have to remember several things when dressing for the said ride. Here are some of the tips to help you find the suitable get up:
1. Wear tops that will cover your arm completely. If you want to wear a simple t-shirt, make sure that you cover it with a jacket. It would be better if you have waterproof jacket during the rainy season. Wear jackets even if the sun is up. This is to protect your arms from the sun and protect you when there is a crash.
2. Wear jeans that will cover your feet completely as well. Your Harley Davidson motorcycle boots will not be able to protect your knees and legs. A good pair of comfortable jeans may not be enough but it will protect your skin from the heat and scratches when there is an accident.
3. As mentioned earlier wear the right type of boots. It has to be sturdy and not easily scratched. Your motorcycle boots should reduce the stress on your feet when riding your motorcycle. That is why you have to be careful in choosing the right boots. Aside from the style, you have to check if it can protect your feet. It also has to be comfortable and make sure that you have the right size. If you do not have a good pair of boots, you will be uncomfortable all throughout your trip.
4. Most importantly, wear your helmets. This will protect one of the most important parts of your body. Many people died in minor accidents because they were not wearing their helmets.
5. Wear a good pair of gloves as well. This will ensure that you have a good grip on the handles. Your hands have the tendency to sweat, and when this happens, it will be difficult to maneuver the motorcycle. This can be very uncomfortable too. You will also develop blisters on your palm especially if you are driving long distance trips.
Wear bright colors if you are riding in the dark. This will improve your visibility to other motorists and this can prevent accident from happening. However, you have to avoid wearing baggy clothes since this does not feel comfortable. Also, avoid wearing clothes or gears with strings and laces. This can interfere with the controls and wheels and will get you in trouble. Wear clothes that snug perfectly well to your body.
Dress for comfort and function when preparing for a motorcycle ride. Be sure to have a good jacket, gloves, comfortable jeans, Harley Davidson motorcycle boots, and helmet before you ride.

Harley Davidson History

In 1903 in Milwaukee is the beginning of history of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Arthur Walter Davidson and Bill Harley developed a one-cylinder motorcycle in Milwaukee. They build the motorbike which is powered by a one-cylinder gasoline combustion engine for racing. The small company extended quickly and another member of the Davidson.
The project of first 1000 cc V-Twin was made by Bill Harley in 1909. The more recognizable images of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle are the 45-degree V-Twin. Actually, Harley-Davidson did not invent the V-Twin, it is hard to believe. Harley-Davidson is more recognize when they winnings in races, endurance contest, and hill climbs. For a long, long time this V-Twin stayed with Harley Davidson motorcycle.
The Harley-Davidson Company saw further growth in the year of 1912. They also became a motorcycle exporter this year and their first overseas sale was made in Japan. About 20,000 motorcycles were used in the war, and most of them Harley-Davidsons. Harley Davidson was the biggest motorcycle factory in the world and they have nearly 2,000 dealerships worldwide in 1918. A long with appearance changes such as the “eagle” design, which was painted on all Harley-Davidson gas tanks, changes were also made to the engine.
Now on, the 1340 cc is the biggest Harley Davidson motorbike that ever appeared. Civilian production on the motorcycle was mostly suspended in 1941 because the company turned out motorcycles for the world war. Harley-Davidson received the army-Navy “E” award because of their commitment and excellent, this would not be the last time. For machine shop, they purchased the old A.O Smith Propeller Plant in 1947. Hydraulic front brakes were introduces on the Hydra-Glide models in the year of 1949.
In the 1950’s the British owned 40 % of the motorcycle market with their Triumph motorbike. This is another bad period to the Harley-Davidson company, but they still survived at the period. Fortunately the Harley Davidson Sportster was born in 1957. It is the fastest Harley Davidson ever. In 1970’s is the beginning of revolution of Harley Davidson. They introduced FXS Low Rider and the FLHS Electra Glide Sport to the public in 1977.
In 1987 The Harley-Davidson Company obtained a place on the New York Stock Exchange for those interested in taking a financial stake in the company. The FXTS Springer Softail model was introduced into the lineup at the end of the revolutionary decade for Harley-Davidson.
With FXDB Dyna Glide Sturgis, the Dyna line of Harley-Davidson’s was introduced in 1991. In 1994, with the VR1000 is the jump of Harley-Davidson into the superbike racing. Harley-Davidson was not fully averse to manufacturing a race inspired sport bike, and they made the VR 1000 featured a dual overhead cam and liquid cooled engine and showed.

Safety on your motorcycle can sometimes only be a concern once you have already crashed into something. The inevitable I told you so and what were you thinking type of questions arise as you are hopefully picking yourself up off the pavement in one piece.
Almost everyone understands the value of wearing a helmet even though many riders choose not to do so, fewer still understand the value of wearing leather to protect your skin in the event of a skid down a pavement covered road. Even fewer still understand the importance of wearing a good, solid pair of motorcycle boots to protect your feet.
Your feet are especially vulnerable to a number of factors in the event of a crash.
